NEWKIRK — 7 Clans Casinos will be closing the remainder of its casinos, hotel, waterpark and restaurants on Sunday morning, March 22 at 2 a.m. Paradise Casino closed on March 19.
As calls for community quarantines begin, many businesses like 7 Clans have struggled with timing and which social responsibility they serve first. “In the rural communities we serve, we have a lot of people that rely on us,” said Bruce Barnett, CEO of 7 Clans Casinos. “Including well over 700 employees for their livelihoods, in some cases our neighbors for their meals, and most importantly, our tribal elders and members.”
In just 14 years, 7 Clans has grown to include five casino venues, Oklahoma’s largest indoor waterpark/hotel/resort, restaurants, a credit union, and numerous other business ventures.
Chairman John Shotton has served as Chairman of the Otoe-Missouria Tribe for 13 of those years.
He added, “We have faced and overcome many challenges along the way to where we are today, and have overcome them all, all in the same way, together. We pray for all people affected by this devastating virus. We also pray for a rapid recovery to this national health and economic crisis.”
In addition to providing some pay and benefits, 7 Clans is in the process of forming a transition team to assist employees that will be affected by the closure in accessing all the benefits afforded them by the Coronavirus Relief Bill approved on Wednesday.
The casinos intend on reopening April 1, pending local and national events. Updates to those reopening times and future events, as well as regional updates to Covid-19, can be found at www.sevenclans.com.

Otoe-Missouria Chairman John R. Shotton says this is just the latest development that the tribe has created to continue on a path of economic sovereignty.“The Otoe-Missouria tribe is exited to break ground on the 7Clans First Council Hotel expansion and indoor waterpark,” Shotton says. “This project is next phase in our plan to be the top entertainment destination in North Central Oklahoma. Building upon our outstanding gaming and hotel facilities as well as our unique concert venue, we look forward to offering even more entertainment options to our patrons and their families. The expansion will provide a family entertainment experience unlike any other in our region.”
